Despite usually failing to capture a bounty in almost every episode, they never actually starve — although one episode does show them not only out of both money and food but out of fuel as well, a situation which gets remedied mostly by accident. And when they actually do get a bounty head, either some circumstance will conspire to ensure that they don’t get anything for it , or the repair, medical and other bills from the massive destruction they caused going after bounties will cancel out whatever money they made. And, on top of it all, Faye is shown to be a gambler and an occasional thief. I know they were crap, but some unspecified addictive chemical in them kept me drinking.
And because I got too addicted to it, I came up with an idea to embark on a quest to find the good quality romantic comedies. Feel free to scroll down below.
Kim Hee-sun is awesome as a kickass fake high schooler, but Ji-soo steals the show as a tough guy with marshmallow center. Wait, is that not the moral of the story? A ruthless editor would have done wonders. Heartwarming and nostalgic, but also makes you tear your hair out. Captures the pounding fervor and emotional extremes of youth with humor and heart.
Dating Agency Cyrano: Episode 9 by javabeans. The case is short but sweet today, and showcases some really nice character beats for everyone. The show continues to use the weekly cases as vehicles for our main cast’s developments, while managing to get .
In the s a production company bought the rights to the script but no movie was produced, and after the option expired, the rights reverted to Kim. After he wrote and directed Scout in , Kim returned to the Agency draft. He worked on the script for 2 years, changing almost everything in the first draft but the film’s basic framework.
Comparing the original draft to the final script, Kim said ” What changed the most was that in my 20s I had a fantasy of love—like I believed if I lived well, then I could meet a beautiful woman. But years later, when I began the movie, my idea of love changed. It’s not that you trust someone and therefore fall in love, but that you trust someone because you love them.
In veteran director Bae Chang-ho mentioned to Kim the script’s similarity to the play , so Kim decided while retooling the script in to overtly reference Cyrano de Bergerac—turning the characters into a theater troupe, and setting the lovers’ flashbacks in France. Kim candidly admitted that he cast the four main actors because their previous TV dramas had been popular, and he wanted to use the momentum from their recent successes.

With short episodes and series duration, Dating Agency: Cyrano doubles as a perfect marathon drama. Though admittedly of little sustainable substance, if you’re seeking airy and memorable fun, look no further. Much of the plot follows the titular agency as they tackle cases. This system produces miniature arcs usually lasting around three episodes. Since each case aims to jump start relationships for supporting characters often depicted by famous guest stars , various romances are sketched out.
Each of them appears to pay homage to a romance type common in dramas mystery, melodrama, teen, etc. As the series goes on, the cases improve in quality; though still fun, the very first as initiated by the veterinarian was almost silly. Several agency members experience plots of their own, mostly bridging all 16 episodes. Unfortunately, the “main couple” was not to my taste.
Age gaps rarely bother me Here sparks never fly and, while the romance makes sense on paper, the entire thing felt stilted. Most performances were solid. Soo Young spins a potentially cliche weak-spined bore into a refreshingly spunky, strong, realistic woman.

She gets nicer and gives up thievery by the end of the first arc, but still keeps some lovable and roguish qualities. Androids 17 and 18 of Dragon Ball Z — in the main timeline, at least. In Trunk’s timeline, they’re sociopathic killers. Ali al-Saachez from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is a subversion; his men love him for his fun nature, and he does take care of them, often fighting Gundams by himself because he knows only he can match them in direct combat.
However, he’s also a Blood Knight who cares only for chaos and slaughter; if it’s not him causing a civil war, it’s making children kill their parents to prove their devotion to the cause, or just random murder for the sake of it. Most of the principal cast of Baccano! In Fushigi Yuugi , the rough and brash thief Tasuki’s first appearance consists of kidnapping the heroine Miaka, unleashing ghost wolves against the heroes who try to stop him, and later faking his own death to avoid joining the heroes.
However, he later shows up to save the heroes from zombies and becomes completely dedicated to their cause, to the point of nearly making a Heroic Sacrifice on Miaka’s behalf. Plus, the actual thieving of Tasuki’s thief gang is easy to ignore, since they border on being The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything anyway except when they briefly serve as The Cavalry later in the series, which makes their thieving even easier to ignore.
Angel most definitely fits this trope! Miroku has no qualms about lying, drinking, womanizing, conning and stealing, being determined to enjoy life to its fullest, but he later shows that he’s also loyal, wise, and is ready to help and protect others even with his own life. Although there is pressure on him to produce an heir that can avenge his death and also inherit the same curse , his womanizing is an inherited character flaw.
That makes it a solid successor to Sungkyunkwan Scandal, just with less seriousness and more cheek. I could really use a show like this about now. He sits reading a book with stately poise… and then his mouth quirks up in a grin and he shoots a surreptitious look around.
This drama is about a dating agency that orchestrates romantic scenarios for paying clients, all in an effort to raise enough money to save an old theater.

The Berlin File was one of ‘s biggest domestic hits 7. Although apparently beset by a series of production difficulties, it is an impressively mounted thriller: Many domestic viewers compared the film to the Jason Bourne series, but despite a few superficial concession to the latter’s fragmentary style, The Berlin File is a throwback to the “serious” espionage thrillers of ’60s and ’70s, films such as The Quiller Memorandum , also set in Berlin and written by Harold Pinter , A Dandy in Aspic and Three Days of Condor Ryoo, who also penned the film’s unusually for him taut screenplay, again seems to have achieved what he does arguably better than almost any other Korean filmmaker:

Dating Agency: Cyrano (Hangul: 연애조작단; 시라노; RR: Yeonaejojakdan; Sirano) is a South Korean television series starring Lee Jong-hyuk, Choi Sooyoung, Original release: May 27 – July 16,
It was completely by accident that I started watching the first episode, and to my surprise, this drama was actually good. It actually became one of my favorites compared to the other dramas I was watching at the time. We all need a nice, zippy rom-com to watch every now and then, and “Cyrano” definitely delivered that for me. It didn’t really try to be deep or hold some secret message, but it did offer some insights to love that made me view relationships in a certain way.
I’m glad that this drama- for the most part- didn’t try to venture into the moral consequences of what the Cyrano team was doing, and instead managed to make it seem less wrong than what the synopsis makes the viewer think. Some of the cases here were admittedly more “wrong” than others, but in the end everyone wound up content.
The tone of “Cyrano” stayed pretty even throughout, except for the last two episodes where it just suddenly decided to be serious. The last two episodes weren’t too out there as far as the plot went, but compared to the whole show in general they just seemed kind of ridiculous. While I don’t have any particular misgivings towards idol actors, the majority of them aren’t something to write home about. Her chemistry with Lee Jong Hyuk was cute, but I always felt that her character was more well-matched to Chunderella’s character.
