Quick Facts Traveling In France France is the most visited country in the world, and there is little mystery as to why. Whether it is pairing sensuous wines with rich cheeses, enjoying a beautiful dinner atop the Eiffel tower or simply strolling down cobblestone streets, there is a romance in the French air that is impossible to replicate. Going on a France tour is like something out of a movie – you can wander through fields of lavender, lie out and tan on picturesque beaches, and then finish with a stop at one of the main beautiful palaces. Its creator Gustav Eiffel once said: Guests can even enjoy a lovely dinner from atop the tower, from one of the many restaurants inside. Eating dinner at the Eiffel Tower combines two quintessentially French experiences – enjoying delicious food, and looking out over picturesque vistas.

Poland Olsztyn The first impressions of Olsztyn may leave you little underwhelmed, as the post-war suburbs through which the visitors must first travel when entering the city are cluttered with displeasing grey buildings and factories. After reaching the city centre, however, you will discover that Olsztyn has much more to offer than the usual post-war greyness.
This is where Olsztyn hides all of its most precious treasures, most notably the picturesque Old Town full of impressive sights and monuments. Finally, with its numerous lakes and municipal forests, Olsztyn is likely to take you aback with the variety of leisure activities it offers. Due to its official function, the city houses all the most important institutions of the area and draws investors from all over the country.
Olsztyn is also a renowned cultural and academic centre, boasting a large philharmonia and a university in addition to the numerous cinemas, theatres and cafes. What’s more, the city is heavily influenced by both Polish and German cultures, which manifest themselves in cuisine and customs of its inhabitants. Olsztyn’s popularity amongst tourists springs from two factors — its sights and its setting. The most attractive part of the city is the centrally positioned Old Town, encircled by a set of fortified walls.
Despite its name, the Old Town is far from ancient. Due to the damages inflicted by the Red Army during the World War II, the area was almost totally destroyed, leaving only mere remnants of buildings dating back to medieval times. Recently, however, many of the demolished monuments have been carefully reconstructed, amongst them the Upper Gate also known as the High Gate , the 14th century Gothic Castle of the Warmian Chapter and the majestic Cathedral of St.
Being located in the centre of a famous lake district means that, apart from impressive sights, Olsztyn can offer a wide range of leisure activities, such as swimming, kayaking, biking and hiking. There are also two preserves nearby Mszar and Redykajny , three rivers and 13 large lakes including the Dlugie and Redykajny Lakes , which comprise 8.

Beale Street has exciting news to share! And me being a guy that doesn’t sing or anything. But me being the guy that talks and tells the stories and encourages our history to keep on being told, we’re a circle of history here. We’re not supposed to take sides and Beale Street is just a place where everyone comes together.
So I’m happy to be here on Beale Street, forever. It truly couldn’t have happened to a more deserving soul in and of our city. The actual Brass Note will be installed on the sidewalk at W. Hopefully this tradition and service will be continued by The Downtown Memphis Commission – maybe there is a Blue Suede Shoe Brigade member that will pick up the torch of talking about the amazing history and present of the alleys, sidewalk, streets, parks, plazas, rooftops and storm drains of Downtown Memphis and the Riverfront!
Individual tours were developed over the years with the framework being about minutes and 4 blocks in length – all on the sidewalk surfaces handicapped accessible and FREE! On some weekends, three tours were melded together to make a 3-hour tour.

Click for larger view The above photograph shows Ron London and Bill Mottern setting up their low power x-ray machine, the same device that was at least in part responsible for the seizing of all of STURP’s equipment by Italian customs upon its arrival in Italy back in The wooden crate that housed the x-ray machine had a radiation sticker on the outside, and that apparently raised enough concern to cause the customs officials to seize everything and refuse to release it upon our arrival.
We arrived a week prior to the scheduled start of our examination while the Shroud was still on public display in order to unpack, set up and calibrate all our instruments and equipment so we would be fully prepared when the Shroud was brought to us. Unfortunately, it took five and a half days before the equipment was finally released so we had to work around the clock for the remaining 36 hours to prepare everything for our testing.
We were still finishing our preparations when the Shroud was brought into the examination room, a full hour and a half ahead of schedule! In spite of the pressure and stressful circumstances, everyone pulled together, worked as a team and we got the job done! I wanted to do something special for today’s update and spent a lot of time thinking about it. Since we first went online on January 21, , we have included a Bibliography of STURP’s published papers, but were unable to publish the papers themselves due to copyright restrictions.
Considering the historic importance of the work, that has always been one of my biggest frustrations, especially now on our 40th anniversary. However, in the ownership of this website and all of my Shroud photographs and other materials was legally transferred to our c 3 non-profit organization, STERA, Inc. Since we provide the information for educational purposes and are effectively the single largest Shroud resource on the internet, we believe we now fall well within the Fair Usage clause of the copyright law.
Furthermore, there is no charge to access any of the content on this website nor do we permit any type of advertising so we derive no commercial benefits from their publication.
